37th Annual Waterloo Disc Golf Classic ~ Returns To Hancock Golf Course

Saturday, June 28, 2014 (18:14:03) Waterloo Event
The location is confirmed. The contract is signed. The 37th Annual Waterloo Disc Golf Classic, Oct 18-19, 2014, will be returning to the historic Hancock Golf Course in Austin! Hancock is the small, beautiful 9-hole ball golf course located at E. 41st and Red River, and was the very first golf course in Austin. It is just a mile or two north of our beloved Waterloo Park, and the same creek runs through it that runs through Waterloo (Waller Creek).

Austin’s original disc golf tournament makes a return engagement at Austin’s original ball golf course. We will have two 18-hole courses again this year, so a maximum of 180 players. Last year we came very close to filling, with about 175 people signing up. The reviews were great and it is going to be awesome again this year!

Now that we know the 37th Waterloo DG Classic will be at the Hancock again, it is the perfect time to save your spot in this wonderful tournament. Regular registration likely won’t open up for another couple of months, and once it does entries will pour in. Don’t take a chance on missing out, take the Father Dave McC-Note Challenge now.

The way it works is this: send the Waterloo Club a check or money order for $100 now. Your spot in the tournament is guaranteed. When fees for the different divisions are set, we will deduct from your $100:

your entry fee
ace pot
ring-of-fire
non-active pdga fee (if applicable)

All the money left goes directly to the charity. Last year we had 78 McC-Noters, which added over $2,600 to the total charitable donation!

To clarify something that has come up occasionally: this money saves “your” spot, not “a” spot. Once the tournament fills up and there is a waitlist, if you have to cancel you can’t just give your spot to someone else. As with any cancellation, the spot goes to the next person on the waitlist. If you do have to cancel, you will receive a refund of everything except what would have gone to the charity (and that money will still be added to the donation).

Don’t wait too long and end up missing out on this wonderful event. Send in your money now and you won’t have to worry about it filling up without you.

Send your check or money order, payable to WDGC, to:

WDGC
PO Box 33531
Austin, TX 78764

Please include: your division, full name, email and/or phone number, and pdga number (if you have one).

Waterloo New & Renewing Members

Thursday, August 23, 2012 (18:57:37) Waterloo Event
A much-belated WELCOME to all the people who joined Waterloo Disc Golf Club at the Roy G. Guerrero Grand Opening, and to those existing club members who renewed their membership! We really appreciate the support, and we couldn’t do all the work we do without it.

The new club member discs have arrived and I just passed them on to Kristi Gold yesterday. She now has all the member discs, Disc Nation bucks, and Supporting Member shirts, so if you didn’t get all your stuff at the time you joined/renewed, it should be coming soon.

Also if your membership was already current in 2012 and you haven’t yet received your $10 Disc Nation buck, then she should be getting that to you soon too. (this would be because you either renewed earlier in the year or did one of our multi-year renewals in 2011 or earlier)

If you don’t receive your items in a little while, or if you ever have any questions about your membership, feel free to contact Kristi or John Gold directly (Kristi Gold @ (512) 994-9508, Kristina.gold@ymail.com). Or you can send the club an email or note through our Facebook page or website and we’ll get it to them.

Special thanks to Damon & Stacey Neth, not only for Disc Nation’s non-stop incredible support for Waterloo, but also for becoming our two newest Lifetime Members!

And thanks again to ALL of you!

Wednesday, June 04, 2014 (13:16:50) Waterloo Event
Mark Your Calendars

The final public meeting for the Pease Park Master Plan process will be Thursday, June 5, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Lamar Senior Activity Center, 2874 Shoal Crest Avenue, 78705.

We need disc golfers there to continue to show support, and to put pressure on, to get disc golf back in Pease Park. If the Master Plan that is presented does NOT include disc golf, as expected, then we need everyone there to voice our dissent and our opposition to the plan.

2nd Annual "Young at Heart" Parent/Child/Family Doubles Disc Golf Event

Thursday, March 20, 2014 (14:31:57) Waterloo Event
Make your reservations for Saturday, April 19, 2014 for a day of Family Fun at The MET Center Disc Golf Course!!

2nd Annual "Young at Heart" Parent/Child/Family Doubles Disc Golf Event

This will be a second year for the Parent/Child/Family Doubles Disc Golf Event brought to you by the Waterloo Disc Golf Club (event run by Troy Herman and Rock Schouman and Gordon Kelly)

It will be a PDGA Tier C Event. This event will be participating in the PDGA Competition Endowment Program (CEP), to further benefit EDGE by raising more funds via the CEP matching guidelines. That means there will be no additional $10 fees by players and the opportunity to raise more money!

The criteria for this event will be Teams of: 1 Parent and 1 Child

The inspiration for this is the opportunity for kids and their parents to play a Disc Golf round together. Too many times we go to events and never get to relax with our kids or show them why we love the sport so much. Here is your way to make it a lifetime memory and lifetime sport for your family.

Details (subject to change):

~ 1 Round of 18 Holes at The MET Center Disc Golf Course
~ 1 Parent and 1 Child will make up a Team
~ Doubles Event with Alternating Throws for each Team

~ Team Divisions will be determined by the YOUNGER person's age

*You Will Register/Play The Division According To The YOUNGEST Team Member's Age

Up to 6 years
7 yrs to 9 yrs
10 yrs to 12 yrs
13 yrs to 16 yrs
17+ yrs (Some of you older Father/Son, Mother/Daughter, Father/Daughter, and Mother/Son teams need some bonding time too)

The additional benefit of this event will be that your donations will go directly to E.D.G.E. (Educational Disc Golf Experience) for kids. The donation will be a portion of each team's entry fee. (www.edgediscgolf.org)

Entry: $25.00 Entry Per Team ($5 per entry goes to E.D.G.E.)

MAIL: Waterloo Disc Golf Club, Attn: Young at Heart, P.O. Box 33531, Austin, Texas 78764

*If you have more than one child and would like them to participate, we will try get your youth a partner so you can still be together and play! Be sure to let us know if you need someone.*

**SPONSORS WELCOME** (we have no criteria, but we will accept it all for the event to help our prizes and payout)

** Volunteers Needed for possible youth partners, staff, instruction, guides, etc.**

This is a great opportunity to introduce someone new to the sport, make it a family day for everyone, spend time with youngsters, and make a memory that will last.

MORE INFORMATION TO FOLLOW

*I understand that this will be on an Easter Saturday, so thank you for your willingness to support our event on one of the limited days that were open. Last year we had 28 Teams (56 players) and it was an amazingly GREAT time.. so DON'T MISS OUT!!
