~ Message from Gordon ~
~ as posted on the PDGA Forum ~

Sorry, but I've been swamped with work (fiscal year-end stuff) and other Waterloo stuff, so I haven't been able to put much up here or on the pdga player list site. I'll try to get some done soon.

The big news at this point is that the tournament is now taking part in the PDGA Competition Endowment Fund. This means the players' pdga fees now will go to the charity instead of the pdga.

This also means the demise of the mulligans. Some will be unhappy with this as they like the mulligans and think they are very fun. Others may not really care. And others still will be delighted because now they can get ratings from the event (with mulligans, we were an XC tier event and no player ratings; now we are just a plain C tier with ratings). Plus they won't have to deal with the psychology of "when to use the mulligan" each round.

If you paid for mulligans with your entry, you've got some money coming back to you when you check in - or maybe you've already purchased some raffle tickets?

I guess I will have to use my mulligan money to pay off my card to look the other way. Smile

Last time I spoke with Grodon the course would be setup Friday morning. So doesnt look like you will be able to practice the day before unless you make believe the course in your head. Gordon can confirm or deny this though.

Spoke with Gordon tonight. The course will not be set up prior to Friday, being that this tourney is: only held once a year, is a temporary course, and is set up and taken down DAILY.

He did note that if you are wishing, you may come out and take part in the Doubles Tourney to get a run at it on Friday. He reports that you may bring your own partner, or match up with someone at the event since others come to do the same thing.

If you do not wish to play the Doubles Event, the only option to play the course is to start a round AFTER all the Doubles Cards have started, because naturally they have priority (that may be later in the day).

Come on out, it is great Tournament (Singles or Doubles) to play on a temporary course through the Waterloo Park area near the State Capital; there are a lot of challenges from: gazebos, creeks, benches, tables, tight throws along the street, and the infamous Waterloo Hole (hope you don't end up in the UT Tennis Courts because they are OB!).

See ya there!

Bring Toys and Items for Donations and Fundraising!

Idea ~FYI~ Idea

Last year, a box was started with collected toys that could be given to the RMH. (Even some food and other staples were donated)

Let's keep the spirit going this year. Bring some packaged toys, and things like this so that the families may be able to use them while they are staying at the RMH.

Furthermore, let's work up some sponsors, and more items for the Silent Auctions. The money raised goes to the charity.

Last year, people and businesses donated products and services ranging from dinners, massages, nail care, yard work, cleaning services, discounts, memberships, etc.

Have a favorite place to eat? Ask them to donate for the event! Bring the sponsorship letter with you and tell them what the good cause is for.

Time is getting short, so let's get this thing bigger than it was last year!

All times are GMT - 6 Hours
